Brochure Pelle D’Oca: Silvia Levenson – Mostra Personale

Silvia Levenson, the renowned Argentine artist, is celebrated for her profound focus on women’s issues and gender disparities. The Brochure Pelle D’Oca presents her solo exhibition titled “Pelle D’Oca,” an emotionally captivating visual experience. The vernissage will take place on Thursday, June 6, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the PROJECT ROOM of the Punto Sull’Arte Gallery, located at Viale Sant’Antonio 59/61 in Varese (Casbeno). The artist will be present to engage with the audience and share her work.

In the Brochure Pelle D’Oca, Levenson utilizes glass in her refined sculptures to explore the complexities of interpersonal relationships, highlighting the intrinsic ambiguities within human connections. This material, while familiar and protective, is also extremely fragile, symbolically representing the vulnerabilities of human interactions.

For the exhibition at Punto Sull’Arte, the artist has conceived an installation that initially evokes a domestic environment, seemingly safe and welcoming. However, upon closer inspection, a sense of disorientation emerges. Among the objects displayed in the Brochure Pelle D’Oca are a dress made of glass and copper wire, reminiscent of Cinderella’s glass slipper but featuring an unsettling nail at its center, along with two bottles that reflect the contemporary obsession with aesthetics.

An essential component of the installation is the mirror, which initiates a complex play of reflections. Viewers can observe their own reflection, but simultaneously, their image is transported into an alternative dimension, thanks to the inscriptions present on the objects.

Silvia Levenson’s creations, detailed in the Brochure Pelle D’Oca, are elegant and sophisticated yet impractical. The use of glass, razor blades, and iron wire gives them a dangerous quality, symbolizing the challenge of adhering to unattainable and irrational beauty standards. “Pelle D’Oca” tells a timely and significant story, delicately and gracefully revealing the darker side of fairy tales and the risks that often lurk within the seemingly reassuring family reality.

Join us for an artistic journey that challenges conventions and invites reflection on gender issues. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the work of Silvia Levenson in this unmissable exhibition, featured in the Brochure Pelle D’Oca.
