AS I WALK | Marika Vicari

The exhibition, divided into five rooms, follows a play that is mainly played on a black and white background in the main themes of the artist’s research: a view on the road (Lo sguardo nel cammino), silence (Silenzio), everyday life seen through a window (Quotidianità del mondo alla finestra), the memory of the Earth and the process of disappearance in deep blackness (La memoria della terra e il processo di sparizione nei neri profondi), and the game ends in the last and colorful room with a series of paintings dedicated to the desire to travel and experience the world (Vagare, mentre si attraversa il mondo.).

The not-yet-exhibited drawings on wood and paper in small and large format refer to an in-depth story that recreates all the centrifugal and participatory sensations of travel, the passage of spaces, and an ever new view of the landscape and territory around us. Geographies and measurements become contradictory fragments of other and unique realities. This exhibition is dedicated to a man who, due to the conditions of loneliness, silence, footprints or memory, can always return to his personal and intimate nature through his gaze …

The exhibition, created in collaboration with the Punto Sull’Arte Gallery in Varese, the Romberg Gallery in Latina and the Art Stays Society in Ptuj, will be accompanied by music of Transversal project and a trilingual catalog with an introduction by Antonio Arévalo and Marjeta Ciglenečki, with texts and excerpts by Matteo Galbiati, Gianluca Marziani, Alessandra Redaelli, Emanuele Beluffi, Peter Assmann, Cecilia Maria Di Bona.
