Valeria Vaccaro: “Fuoco Cammina Con Me” Exhibition at PUNTO SULL’ARTE Gallery
Valeria Vaccaro, a renowned sculptor from Turin and winner of the 2022 VAF Prize, will be the star of the “Fuoco Cammina Con Me” exhibition at PUNTO SULL’ARTE. The vernissage will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the gallery located at Viale Sant’Antonio 59/61, Varese. The artist will be present.
Valeria Vaccaro has crafted a unique sculptural language, blending the monumentality of marble with themes of fragility, metamorphosis, and transience. The exhibition will showcase works from various cycles, including Marmiferi, Aver Cuore, Urban Platform, Handle With Care, Tree of Life, Non Brucio, and the new series Controsenso.
Her works delve into the symbolism of fire, inspired by a film by David Lynch. Through contrasting concepts like destruction and rebirth, solidity and fragility, Vaccaro reflects on the contradictory nature of existence.
The Marmiferi series features oversized matches sculpted in Carrara marble, while Urban Platform and Handle With Care monumentalize pallets and packing crates. The Aver Cuore and Non Brucio series use burning effects on blocks of typographic characters, creating fragments of Visual Poetry.
The Tree of Life series explores the contrast between fullness and emptiness, while Controsenso focuses on the expressive potential of marble, with sculptures mimicking the burnt effect of wood.
A bilingual catalog featuring the exhibited works and text by curator Ivan Quaroni will accompany the exhibition, which will be on display until December 21, 2024.
VALERIA VACCARO nasce a Torino nel 1988. Dopo aver frequentato il Liceo Artistico, studia scultura presso l’Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino. Dal 2005 espone regolarmente in mostre personali e collettive in Italia, Francia, Germania, Inghilterra e Montenegro e partecipa a fiere di settore. Tra il 2013 e il 2015 partecipa alla Biennale itinerante europea JCE Jeune Création Européenne. Nel 2015 espone a Exhibit a Torino e al Museo d’Arte Contemporanea del Castello di Rivara. Nel 2017, in occasione dell’Art Prize CBM, vince una menzione speciale dalla città di Torino. Nello stesso anno è tra i vincitori dell’ArTeam Cup 2017. Nel 2021 viene selezionata per esporre alcune sue sculture nell’ambito di BAG Bocconi Art Gallery a Milano. Nel 2022 è la vincitrice del Secondo Premio Fondazione VAF IX Edizione riconosciuto dalla prestigiosa Fondazione tedesca con lo scopo di promuovere posizioni innovative nell’arte contemporanea italiana e di comunicarle in Germania. Vive e lavora a Torino.
