Paolo Amico's inspiration lies in the photographs of urban landscapes that he takes and in the experiences that he makes in his everyday life. The artist creates works where often the absolute protagonist is the night, a moment that he considers full of life and colors. The night scenes of his paintings, which arise from the decisive stroke of the pencil to which he later superimposes the biro pen drawing, are illuminated by streetlamps and neon signs that give light and create a pop atmosphere. Amico plays with the viewer's gaze in fact when he watches the painting, he does not expect to find the title in the work itself. He was born in San Cataldo (Sicily) in 1987. He graduated in 2011 at the Academy of Fine Arts ABADIR in Monreale (Palermo). He immediately began to create works using only ballpoint pens. In 2012 he won the Art Prize, a recognition that made him grow artistically and personally and from which originates what is called "Biro-realism". Between 2014 and 2018 he enriched his experience with an important series of solo and group exhibitions and awards. He was one of the finalists of Cairo Prize (2014 and 2018) and winner of Meneghetti International Art Prize (2018). In 2022 he collaborated with Maison d'Hermès creating the windows of the prestigious Florentine boutique. In the same year he was commissioned by the Municipality of Ivrea to create "Luci d'Artista" that cover 700 meters of the city center. He lives and works in Milan.
